I've been reading the book of Exodus.  In chapter 15 the Israelites are singing praises to God for parting the Red Sea and delivering them out of Egypt.  Their attitudes change in chapter 16 verses 2 and 3 when they become angry and complain about their hunger. This is a reflection of my own heart.  I can remember God delivering me from a terrible situation and then immediately complaining about what I don't have.  God please change my heart so that it's more like Yours.

I also want to say CONGRATULATIONS to STEVE AND CHRISTINE!!!!!

MOVIES

Once is an indie modern musical that is getting excellent reviews. I'd love to go see it, interested? Plot: the film tells the story of a street musician and a Czech immigrant during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal their unique love story. Trailer:  http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/once/trailera/

I melt for anything Tim Burton does and the trailer for his next movie Sweeney Todd is up on Yahoo movies.
I can't wait for this one. For fun (and because I'm procrastinating) here is a list of the movies Tim Burton directed in the order of my most favorite to my least favorite. Please keep in mind that I love them all. Most would disagree with my list and I'm almost positive Sweeney Todd will be in the top 3. I also left off Pee Wee's big adventure because I've never seen it.
1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
2. Ed Wood
3. Corpse Bride
4. Edward Scissorhands
5. Beetlejuice
6. Batman Returns
7. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
8. Batman
9. Planet of the Apes
10. Big Fish
11. Sleepy Hollow
12. Mars Attacks

God bless and Goodnight!

Heartbroken

soc

Today I woke up at 5am, logged on to ESPN 360, and watched our USA Women's National Team fall to Brazil in a devastating 4 to nil loss. The streak of 51 games without a loss has been broken. This year our Women's National Team was ranked number one in the Women's World Cup. I feel an emptiness inside and a sadness equivalent to hearing loved ones reject God.  I pray for my loved ones and after the game I prayed for the national team.  I prayed that God would console and heal them.

Credit must be given to Brazil. They played an amazing game. They kept control of the ball and allowed only two shots on goal (that's unheard of). Their star forward Marta also displayed some sick dribbling moves. However, the focus is all on USA coach Greg Ryan. He made arguably the worst coaching move ever when he replaced USA goalie Hope Solo with veteran Briana Scurry. Scurry (shown above in green) is one of the best goalies of all time but is now 36 and hasn't played a full game in three months.  Hope Solo, however, hasn't had a goal scored on her in 300 minutes of game time. I express my frustration by allotting majority of the blame for this loss to Coach Ryan's goalie change. The change was more of a distraction than anything.  The media couldn't stop talking about it and you sensed doubt in the USA players. A coach is supposed to give his or her players the best opportunity to win, not create distraction.

I love my country and I feel for this team who has worked so hard. I didn't care as much when the Men's National Basketball Team placed third in the World Games. They were overconfident and had no respect for the other countries.  This TEAM however has displayed tremendous heart and teamwork.  It broke my heart to see the Brazilian team dancing in front of USA players and hearing the crowd of 48,000 (mostly Chinese) cheering every time a USA player was tackled.  I look forward to the 2008 Olympics and more beautiful soccer from our Women's National Team. God bless them!

Hi Everyone,

This past summer was pretty eventful. Among other things, I decided to go back to school, my brother got married, and I took a little trip to Hong Kong and Shenzhen with my Mom.  I've posted some pictures from this past summer along with some random pictures that I really dig.  I hope you enjoy! (I've never really done this before)

My Mom and I in Shenzhen. Isn't she a total Betty?

My Mom and I at Little China in Shenzhen.

My Mom and I in Hong Kong.

These good looking people are my cousins who live in Hong Kong. They had no idea I was going to be in HK but when they found out they quickly put together a dinner for my Mom and I. God bless them.

My brother got married the beginning of August. We're completely different but get along very well. This is Mom's side of our family who I'm really close with. Right next to me is my Uncle Vic. He was born with cerebral palsy but it doesn't define him.

I was trying to dance with my Mom at the banquet but failed miserably.

This picture was taken at my cousin Nae's wedding a year or two ago. These are my guy cousins on my Mom's side (My brother is also standing to my left). I love these guys.

Vic and I in front of Staples Center. Coming from a family of die-hard Laker fans, one of Vic's lifelong dreams was to see a Laker game at Staples Center. I stood in line for hours and finally got tickets to one of the last games of the season. It was awesome. You can't see it but Vic is wearing one of those commemorative Kobe 81 shirts.

Vic watching the Lakers practice.

Here are some awesome brothers! These guys have helped me through some hard times.

Have a blessed day!

God bless,
Warren
